Interaction/UX Designer

Are you the interaction designer we are looking for? To us, your passion for design is most important. We’d like you to have at least one to three years work experience, but we’re always open to meet talented designers who are (light)years ahead of their experience on paper. Impress us!

About us

We are Hike One. We are probably the largest design focussed agency in the Netherlands. With 65+ people of whom at least 50 are designers, we literally put design first. We love to make technology work for people and we love to make it as simple as possible. We work for some truly great clients like Marktplaats, Signify, Liberty Global, Heineken and Rituals.

Our team in Europe's most innovative, leading technology city, is growing fast. Our brand new office is located in the creative area of Strijp-S, in the revived former Philips Microlabs building.

So, who are you?

You know Sketch and InVision, and you gave Framer a go. Wireframing is something you could do with your eyes closed. You've ran couple of Usability Tests before and you know what matters most when conducting it. You are confident in hosting and facilitating workshops. At the start of a project, the first thing that comes to your mind is finding out what the real problem is.

You know how to set up your own work process and how to advise your client in this. You’re resourceful: if a problem arises, you’ll come up with three possible solutions. Taking up an active role is something you do naturally. And if you see that things could be done in a better way, you change it.

Are you thinking “Yes, that's me” at this point? Then keep on reading: we’re looking for you!

  • You have a passion for UX (duh)
  • You are a skilled researcher, you know exactly what kind of information you need for the type of project

  • You have great communication skills and know how to uncover clients’ needs
  • You are independent in setting up your own work process
  • You are able to empathise with users within diverse contexts
  • You make meaningful designs that fit the user needs as well as those of the business
  • You know when to deviate from native elements when developing an iOS or Android app and understand the impact on development
  • You are familiar with responsive design and know how to create component-based digital designs
  • You document your work and process with the necessary details
  • During a design review, you know how to navigate stakeholders toward the right design decisions
  • You have a portfolio with previous work you are proud to show
  • Preferably you live in region Eindhoven

Yes, that's me! What will I do?

At Hike One, you’ll be doing lots of different things. Maybe you’ll create a new digital brand for a start-up in two days. Or you start your week with a design stand-up in the scrum team of a client. Together with your team members, you’ll look for the best solutions to tickets on the backlog. You could also take over from a colleague on a long running project. Your fresh approach will be very valuable.

Most importantly, you’ll be working with lots of interesting companies. You will most likely work at their office for a while. On the other days you get to work from our new office at Strijp-S: Microlab. If you come on board, you have the chance to build up your portfolio with outstanding projects. Your future colleagues have created hundreds of products over the last years, such as great new mobile apps for Ziggo, Buienradar, and ANWB. Or Drop&Fly, a terrific self-checkin luggage system for airports. Also, a new website for Funda, the biggest real estate website of the country.

I'm still interested! What's in it for me?

Isn’t that great! Now, let’s talk about what you’ll get in return for all your hard work. Of course there’s a monthly salary and 25 days holiday a year. You’ll get an annual budget to use for education purposes and a top-notch MacBook including every tool you need. If you run into a sweet new tool that we weren’t aware of yet, we’ll make sure to get it for everyone at the office. And who knows, maybe you can give a lunch lecture on your new discovery.

But wait, there's even more:

  • monthly team gathering and a yearly weekend trip
  • fine organic lunches and fun colleagues to play foosball with
  • compensation for your travel and phone expenses

What sets us apart:

  • Opportunity to grow professionally - you will get a yearly budget for education to spend on conferences, masterclasses, workshops and (online) courses.
  • Opportunity to follow your personal passions and interests together with like-minded colleagues by joining one of the internal guilds
  • You can be independent and create your own Hike One path
  • We offer excellent working environment (creative office spaces that inspire you throughout your work day)
  • And of course: a huge set of fellow design enthusiast to work with, share your thoughts with and learn from every single day

You’ve convinced me! What do I do now?
